Junior Leadership Program
The Junior Leadership Program was founded in 2012 as an expansion of the Wilton Woman’s Club commitment to community service.
The group is composed of WWC members and their middle and high school age daughters, working together to provide volunteer support to local non-profit organizations and human interest initiatives.
The mission and purpose of the program is for our daughters to learn more about community service, and give back to their community.
Each mother signs up to supervise the JLP members at one event.
Junior Leadership Program Upcoming Dates
In order to solidify a annual schedule for the JLP program, we have devised the following volunteer opportunities. We are hoping these become annual programs that the girls can look forward to and plan for each year. Please save these dates in your calendars and when possible work your schedules around these programs. Also, please note some of these programs are also open to ALL members even if you don't have a daughter to volunteer with.
Summer 2019 (Date TBD)
Help harvest, bag and transport vegetables from Trackside vegetable garden to Wilton food pantry.
November 2019 (Date TBD)
Assemble and distribute Thanksgiving meals to home bound residents in Wilton.
December 2019 (Date TBD)
Assemble and distribute Holiday meals to home bound residents in Wilton.
Additional Opportunity:
We wanted to let you know that the Wilton Garden Club has an Organic Vegetable Gardening program for 6 weeks in May/June for all students in Middle School or High School. Student can earn service hours for participating. AND IT'S FREE!
Students can take the bus after school to Trackside. They do really cool things besides planting and harvesting the garden, they make juices from the produce, they make garden art displays with recyclable materials, they make flower arrangements, and much more. Click here to sign up.
In 2016, the JLP group learned about significant women in Wilton's history, did reports and exhibits, and displayed them in the front lobby of the Wilton Library during March. See the article in Good Morning Wilton here: Woman's Club Junior Leadership.
If you are interested in signing up with your daughter, please visit our members page here: Junior Leadership. You must be a member of the Wilton Woman's Club to sign up (click here for Membership information).
